The Spanish court issued its ruling to acquit FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta of the accusations against him that FC Barcelona had paid money in light of their contract with one of the companies owned by José Enriquez Negrera, the former vice-president of the referees committee, during the period from 1999 to 2010. Reports had indicated that transfers had taken place between (1999-2010) through a company owned by Negrera. Last April, Spanish prosecutors officially charged FC Barcelona in an alleged corruption case, based on its payment of 1.4 million euros to Negrera to submit reports related to referees.
