Demands to mobilize regional and global resources to provide medicines

Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi

Minister of Health Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim revealed arrangements for the Government of Sudan to facilitate procedures for the entry of supplies and aid across the lines and to open the crossings, especially the Al-Tina crossings from Chad and Al-Renk crossings from South Sudan.
During his meeting with the Director-General of the World Health Organization in Geneva, he acknowledged the difficulty in delivering support in areas controlled by the Rapid Support, especially in the states of Darfur and Kordofan, in addition to attacks on them on travel roads. He reviewed the call launched by the Ministry to rebuild hospitals destroyed by the war and increase the support allocated to Sudan, in addition to mobilizing the regional and global resources to address health issues in the country, especially in the areas of health emergencies and epidemic control.
Haitham pointed out that the fall season is approaching, and said that all priorities and basic needs will be directed to treatment, noting the efforts made to secure the pharmaceutical supply and life-saving medicines for Sudan in the next stage.
He pointed out that the meeting dealt with basic issues, the most important of which was the issue of opening paths to provide treatment and drug supplies to all states of the country, including the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization underscored the role of the organization through its office in Sudan to work with its full staff, coordinate with the Government of Sudan and respect the sovereignty of Sudan, and directed assistance to make the necessary arrangements to support the Ministry.
