The British Metropolitan Police in London announced the arrest of 53 people on charges of storming Wembley Stadium and attempting to breach security measures surrounding the stadium, before the final match of the Champions League between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
There was a storming of the stadium during the first minute of the match, when 3 people entered the stadium separately without tickets.
“We are confident that the vast majority of attempts to illegally gain access to Wembley Stadium have failed, thanks to the efforts of officers, supervisors and other stadium staff. Officers arrested 53 people at Wembley, including 5 on charges of storming the stadium. The majority of others are due to attempts to breach security measures, and major sporting events often witness attempts by those without tickets to bypass the fence surrounding the stadium, or enter in another way.” Louise Pudfoot, Chief Constable of the Metropolitan Police, said.
