Intensive campaigns to restore services in Khartoum

Assistant Director General of the Civil Defense Forces for Technical Affairs, Emergency and Disasters in Khartoum State, Major General Qureshi Hussein, revealed the Civil Defense’s efforts to provide the state with disinfection equipment and materials, pumps, tarpaulins, and motors, in addition to sending qualified officers for sterilization and disinfection work, which included 31 locations in markets, hospitals, and police stations.
He said during a meeting of the Supreme Committee for Emergency and Crisis Management in the state that they are in the process of developing a future plan to cover all areas that are being cleared of rebellion.
Regarding electricity, the meeting revealed an improvement in the supply, while the management of the awareness program began to stop the use of the unauthorised cables until stability in the supply was achieved, in addition to efforts to collect transformers and use them in the areas that were vandalized.
The meeting directed the Water Department to address the fractures in the experimental pumping phase from the Beit Al-Mal water station and the conveyor line from the Qamayer station to Al-Thawrat.
While the meeting heard a report on the operations to remove bombs and explosive objects, the head of the teams working in the field explained that Omdurman was covered by a rate that varied between 60% and 70%.
“We have three teams working inside the Wadnobawi neighborhood and we have a special team to collect bombs that fall due to blogging.” He said.
The meeting stressed the importance of coordination between civil defense and mine clearance teams.
The meeting heard a report on the campaign to exterminate stray dogs and the campaign to vaccinate house dogs. The campaign will begin in the coming days with the participation of the Ministry of Health, Local Affairs and Waste Management. The meeting demanded that the campaign be accompanied by awareness and information for citizens about the start of the campaign so that there is no panic among citizens.
The meeting also heard a statement from the Ministry of Health, whose efforts were crowned with success in contracting with a competent authority to provide oxygen to hospitals.
On a related level, the meeting stopped at its previous directives to activate unions and cooperative societies to provide goods to citizens. The meeting directed the relevant committee to complete its mission within two weeks, while the executive director of Karary locality reviewed the campaigns to organize Al-Thawra Bel-Nus Street and remove suspicious activities.
