Militias Assassinate Nine Fleeing People from El Fasher Based on Ethnicity

The Rapid Support Forces militia assassinated nine people based on ethnicity as they were on their way from El Fasher to the town of “Mellit” escaping the bloody confrontations occurring in the capital of North Darfur state.
According to Sudan Tribune, Mohammed Jadu, a relative of the victims, stated that “a force from the Rapid Support Forces militia in the northern part of El Fasher stopped a vehicle carrying several citizens on their way to Mellit after the area of armed confrontations expanded. They ordered nine young men to get off the vehicle, shot them dead in front of their families, and killed them on the spot.”
Jadu saw that the targeting of the victims was based on ethnicity after the Rapid Support Forces accused some of the dead of being loyal to the joint forces of the armed movements, which are leading violent battles against the Rapid Support Forces on the outskirts of El Fasher. He explained that the extensive deployment of the militia forces along the road linking El Fasher and Mellit has hindered the movement of those wishing to leave the inflamed city. He pointed out that members of the Rapid Support Forces are committing widespread violations against those fleeing, including torture, killing, and arrest under the pretext of supporting the armed movements, as well as imposing exorbitant fees on vehicle owners transporting citizens.
Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that the air force of the armed forces bombarded the gatherings of the Rapid Support Forces militia in the eastern part of El Fasher intensively.
