SMRC confirms its keenness on optimal exploitation of mineral resources

Director General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company (SMRC) Mohamed Tahir Omar, affirmed his keenness on optimal exploitation of the country’s mineral resources in a way that achieves development and services for communities hosting industries and mining activities and supports the state’s general revenues.
During his meeting with representatives of the Mirfab Nazir in the Berber area of River Nile State, on Monday, he affirmed the need for coordination between the local community and relevant authorities to achieve maximum benefit from the local communities’ share of the social responsibility item.
Mohamed Tahir provided additional briefings to the delegation on the local communities’ shares of social responsibility funds and their management in accordance with Finance Minister Decision No. “90”, stressing the provision of all aspects of technical support to the local community to advance the mining sector and provide services to citizens.
For his part, the deputy Nazir of the Mirfaab tribe, Abdul Rahman Al-Tayeb, revealed their intention to form specialized committees in the fields of health, education and agriculture to implement strategic projects from community responsibility funds, noting that the meeting discussed the random spread of mixer activity and its major effects on the environment and the health of citizens, in addition to the impact of using mixers on the production of mining waste companies and the decline in revenues and local community shares, and he confirmed his support for the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company ( SMRC) to play its role in monitoring and supervising the mining sector in the region.
