Egyptian Army shoots at Smugglers’ cars carrying Sudanese

Sudanese who were on their way to Egypt via smuggling revealed that Egyptian border guards shot at the tires of cars driven by smugglers who were trying to enter the country.
Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that hundreds of Sudanese were deported by Egyptian authorities to the Arqin border crossing for violating entry into Egypt according to official procedures.
One of the Sudanese who left Egypt via smuggling a month ago told Sudan Tribune that Egyptian border guards shot at a car carrying them after the driver refused to stop.
He affirmed that a number of people (with him)who were injured with bruises and wounds as a result of the car hitting some rocks after the tires were shot.
He added: “After that, the Egyptian army deported us to a prison called Al-Shallal in Aswan and refused to make any contact or meet with officials from the Refugee Commission.”
He affirmed that there are more than a thousand Sudanese inside this prison, mostly for trying to enter through smuggling, and that they are living in tragic situations .
Other Sudanese residing in Egypt affirmed the increasing campaign led by the Egyptian security services against the Sudanese, and the deportation of hundreds of them for different reasons.
