Cash Crisis in Sudanese Banks

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

A number of safe states in Sudan witnessed a severe crisis in the availability of banknotes (cash), which included all sectors and even affected banks, as a number of clients with pensions and state employees complained about not receiving their monthly salaries through banks.
Pensioners explained that they had been waiting for their monthly pension at Faisal Islamic Bank since eight in the morning, but the bank closed its doors and asked them to wait until cash was available, indicating that the bank opened its doors after six in the evening, setting a ceiling for disbursement.
Sudan Events monitored an unprecedented crowding of clients in front of banks in the city of Shendi on the last day before the start of Eid al-Adha holiday, and some of them complained about not receiving bank transfers in foreign currency.
