Sudan Events – Agencies

A Sudanese woman was killed on Monday by the Ethiopian “Shifta” militia in the “Oulala” camp, which houses about 6,000 Sudanese refugees who fled the war in Sudan.
The Sudanese refugees face the risk of death and armed attacks by Ethiopian “Shifta” gangs, who attack them inside the Olala Forest in the Amhara region.
A number of refugees said, according to “Sudan Tribune”, that the attack took place on a group of Sudanese women while they were fetching water from a well near the camp.
Eight other women were injured in the attack, which witnessed heavy gunfire on the group.
About 1,700 cases of assault, looting and theft have previously occurred against Sudanese refugees in those areas by armed Ethiopian gangs, as affirmed by Mohamed Hamid, one of the refugee representatives.
Multiple sources affirmed to “Sudan Tribune” that the Ethiopian authorities do not control those areas, which are witnessing the escape of active gangs.
