Attorney General, Yassir Bashir Al-Bukhari, Chairperson of the National Committee to Investigate Crimes and Violations of the Rapid Support RSF Militia, met on Friday with Ambassador Omar Zniber, Chairperson of the Human Rights Council HRC.
The Attorney General provided an explanation of the work of the National Committee to Investigate Violations of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights since the outbreak of the militia rebellion, and affirmed the keenness, desire and ability of the national judiciary and justice agencies to perform their duties in receiving and recording complaints, conducting investigations and rulings on them.
He affirmed the legal system’s guarantee of the rights of the accused to a fair trial.
The Attorney General pointed to the need for international cooperation in criminal matters due to the connection of some cases abroad, such as looted goods that were transported outside the borders, in addition to the presence of a number of victims and witnesses in some countries, especially in countries directly neighboring Sudan. The Attorney General presented a copy of the interim report on the work of the committee.
For his part, President of the Human Rights Council welcomed the Attorney General, and affirmed his full support for the unity and sovereignty of Sudan and respect for its legal and judicial system. He also praised the efforts made in the national track, stressing his support for them.
He expressed his hope that Sudan would overcome the challenges facing it. It is worth noting that the report of the National Committee will be published on the website of the Human Rights Council as a document of the Council.
