Unprecedented increase in Residential Houses rental prices in Shendi
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Residential house rental prices witnessed a new increase added to the first increase that occurred after the arrival of those fleeing the war in Khartoum and the clashes in Gezira , and prices increased in an unprecedented manner.
Sudan Events follow-ups revealed that the price of a house consisting of a room, a hall, and a kitchen (furnished) ranges between SDGs(400,000-600,000) per month, while the price of a house with two rooms and a hall ranges from SDGs 800,000 to one SDGs billion .
Tenants complained about the poor quality of the furnished houses, indicating that they do not rise to the level of furnished, as they contain poor beds and worn-out furniture, with no refrigerator or air conditioner, in addition to the lack of water in them.
Al-Zubair Osman a house broker in Shendi, attributed the rise in rental prices to the significant increase in demand, and acknowledged that some homeowners exaggerate the price in the hope of making large profits.
In the same context, Rahaf Daif Allah, a home broker, expected prices to drop in the coming few days, and she justified this by the near end of university exams in Shendi as well as middle school exams, noting that many families who own homes take their families to the villages on vacation and rent their homes, and she considered this to increase supply.
