Arrangements for planting Summer crop in the Northern state

Minister of Production and Economic Resources in charge of the Northern state, Hussein Abdul Ghafour, confirmed the ministry’s interest and keenness to make the current summer season a success, in which the state targets (253,398) acres of various summer crops.
He pointed out that the ministry, after completing the winter season, began its preparations to enter the summer season, and said during his chairmanship (Monday) of Summer Season Committee meeting for investment projects that he recently participated in the city of Port Sudan in the joint meeting that included the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Irrigation and the Agricultural Bank and the Ministers of Agriculture in the states and agricultural insurance.
The meeting discussed the progress of the ongoing preparations for planting the summer season and providing the requirements for its success.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in the Northern state is keen to address the problems facing the season, including fluctuations in electricity and high production inputs, especially diesel.
For his part, representative of Summer Season Committee for Investment Projects, Nasser Abdullah Al-Hajj, affirmed that the meeting was successful and fruitful, and that the issues and challenges facing the summer season were reviewed, particularly electricity, production inputs, agricultural machinery, and fees imposed on agricultural products, pointing to the readiness of investment projects to cultivate the season and contribute to providing food security in light of the exceptional situations that the country is going through.
