European Sanctions Target leaders of militia, the SAF and Karti

European Union (EU) imposed on Monday sanctions against (6) officials who it said were responsible for activities that undermine stability and political transition in Sudan.
The new sanctions list for the Rapid Support Forces RSF militia includes Abdel Rahman Jumaa Allah, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces RSF in West Darfur, who is responsible for committing atrocities and other violations, incitement to ethnically motivated killing, attacks targeting human rights activists and defenders, conflict-related sexual violence, looting and burning communities. Among those included in the sanctions is the financial advisor to the Rapid Support Forces RSF, in addition to a prominent tribal leader from Mahamid clan linked to the Rapid Support Forces RSF militia in West Darfur.
On the part of the Sudanese Armed Forces SAF , the sanctions target Director General of the Defense Industry System, a company already on the sanctions list by the European Union (EU)and the Commander of the Sudanese Air Force, Al-Tahir Mohamed Al-Awad Al-Amin. The European Union EU added: “For their responsibility for the indiscriminate aerial bombardment of densely populated residential areas since the beginning of the conflict.
Ali Ahmed Karti Mohamed, former Sudanese Foreign Minister in Omar al-Bashir’s government, is also included in the list of those targeted.
The targets are subject to an assets freeze and a ban on providing them with funds or economic resources, directly or indirectly, in addition to a travel ban within the European Union( EU).
