Gezira Governor: No compromise in making the Agricultural Season a success

The acting governor of Gezira Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, said that the state government will not compromise in making the agricultural season a success.
The governor affirmed while heading a meeting (Tuesday) in Al-Manaqil locality, the administrative capital of Gezira state, Supreme Committee for the success of the agricultural season for the summer season 2024/2025, that Gezira scheme represents the economic and food support in Sudan.
He affirmed the importance of agricultural activity in the four dimensions of sustainable development, as agriculture represents the economic dimension and contributes to the local product.
For his part, the agricultural director of the Al-Manaqil departments in Gezira scheme , Yassir Abdel-Jalil Naqd, reviewed the size of the targeted area for cultivation for this season, which amounts to 570 thousand acres out of the total area of one million and ten thousand acres, stressing that the cultivation of the summer season is proceeding according to what was planned, and called on farmers to adhere to agricultural times and technical packages, appreciating the role of the armed forces SAF and other regular forces and mobilized forces in providing security, safety and stability.
While the Director of Irrigation Operations in Manaqil, Adam Ibrahim, affirmed commitment of the Irrigation Department to provide the required levels to cover the needs of the cultivated area in the project, and confirmed the readiness of the Irrigation Department to periodically maintain the doors in order to control the flow of the required levels for this year.
The meeting was reassured about the progress of work to make the summer season a success.
