Vinicius Junior: Copa America stadiums are annoying

Brazilian Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid’s star, acknowledged that his country’s national team must improve its level of play, after a goalless draw with Costa Rica, at the beginning of the Copa America tournament in the United States, and at the same time criticized the small dimensions of the stadium.
“There are no excuses, but certainly the pitch is annoying. The quality of the pitches that we see in the European Cup is completely different from the ones here. In addition, the dimensions are smaller this year to make it more difficult for us.” Vinicius said.
The former Flamengo player also pointed out that the first match in this type of tournament is always “very complicated” and becomes more difficult when it is held in a different stadium, designed to host American football matches, and against a team that defends very well, such as Costa Rica. “They (Costa Rica national team) put all their players inside the penalty area. Every time I play with the national team, three or four players mark me.” He added. However, Vinicius admitted that Brazil’s players must improve their level in the next two matches against Paraguay and Colombia, the other two teams in Group D.
“We know that we have to improve, and I also know what I can improve, develop and do for our team and for our country.” He said.
Vinicius asked the Brazilian fans to give the samba dancers some time, stressing that the coach is new and the players are new to the first team.
