Warnings against Printing Banknotes
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Economic expert Dr. Mohamed Al-Nayer warned against printing banknotes in Sudan to address the liquidity shortage, in light of the current circumstances due to its negative effects on the economy.
Al-Nayer said in his interview to (Sudan Events ) that printing currency now may be difficult, and attributed this to the fact that the currency printing press was destroyed due to the war, and that printing abroad is expensive, in addition to his saying that the Sudanese currency itself needs to be changed in the future after the end of the war, in addition to reconsidering the denominational structure of the currency.
Therefore, Al-Nayer saw that printing paper currency now is not feasible and its impact is negative on the economy, particularly in light of the high inflation rate and the deterioration of the Sudanese pound exchange rate, so Al-Nayer believes that the state should focus on activating electronic applications.
