Directives to urgently address Thirst problems in the “Qandtu” Scheme

Head of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Forestry at the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources in River Nile state, Salah El-Din El-Mamoun, directed the management of the Qandtu scheme in Shendi locality to expedite the solution to the thirst problem that has affected large areas of orchard trees and caused huge losses to farmers due to the damage of mango and orange fruits.
Al-Mamoun said that the project is managed by the “Zadna” company and that it has many mechanisms in addition to stabilizing irrigation and treating the pit by installing a new pit in the past few years.
He called on the scheme manager to continuously follow up on the project to avoid such losses that put farmers in debt due to their reliance on these horticultural products.
He promised to record a visit to the project in the coming few days, calling on the Director of Agriculture in Shendi locality to visit the scheme accompanied by the scheme manager and address the causes that led to the burning of fruit trees.
