(53) Poisoning Cases in Khartoum Due to Drinking Expired Milk

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

East Nile Emergency Chamber, east of the capital Khartoum, revealed that poisoning cases were recorded among citizens at Dar Al Salam Health Center in Haj Youssuf suburb, on Thursday morning as a result of drinking expired milk.
A member of the East Nile Emergency Chamber said, according to “Sudan Tribune”, that the poisoning cases reached 53 cases as a result of drinking expired milk and cakes (Zalabia ).
He added that doctors also believe that the causes of the poisoning cases are due to drinking water from a new well in Square 4 Dar Al Salam, which has not been fully tested to ensure its suitability for drinking.
He pointed out that doctors directed the use of well water for washing only, but in light of the lack of water, citizens were forced to drink it, which caused severe infections, according to the doctors’ report at Dar Al Salam Health Center as a result of water pollution.
He stated that the doctor’s report at the health center proved that the poisoning was due to drinking milk and the (cakes) Zalabia meal.
He confirmed the stability of the cases that he said had recovered, explaining that when they arrived at the health center, they were suffering from severe vomiting due to fluid loss, noting that two cases were transferred to Al-Ban Jadeed Hospital.
Haj Youssuf East Emergency Chamber issued an appeal to other health centers to provide first aid to the cases and provide medical care.
