Demands for Supporting Sudan to Reopen Airspace

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Hussein Nayel, revealed the challenges facing the civil aviation sector in Sudan due to the occupation of the air navigation center in Khartoum by the rebel Rapid Support RSF Militia, which led to the closure of Sudanese airspace.
He said that the measures taken by the authority and its experts contributed to opening Port Sudan Airport for commercial use at the required speed.
He affirmed while addressing the meetings of the 28th session of the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) which was launched in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, that the Civil Aviation Authority is fully prepared to open the airspace in eastern and northern Sudan, which are safe areas, appreciating the great efforts made by the Arab Civil Aviation Organization (ACAO) the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO) and its regional office in Cairo to support Sudan, and called on all Arab countries to support Sudan’s attitude calling for the reopening of the airspace.
He said that Sudan’s cooperation with regional and international organizations working in the field of civil aviation will achieve the required renaissance in this vital sector.
