Foden: I feel sorry for Southgate

Sudan Events – Agencies

English star Phil Foden realizes that what he offers in the European Championship with his country is not the same as what he offers with Manchester City during the rest of the year.
Gareth Southgate’s squad must emerge from this situation against Switzerland next Saturday in the quarter-finals if they want to end the drought that has lasted nearly six decades without titles. Foden participated almost completely in the matches his country played, but he performed almost nothing, as the City star played 337 minutes out of a possible 390. He is the eighth most-participated England player in matches. He did not provide any assists, did not score any goals, and did not play a significant role in his team’s lackluster performance.
“I feel sorry for Gareth. In training, he asks us to press and be in the half-court of (The opponent). Sometimes that has to come from within the players themselves as well. We have to be leaders; I feel that in the matches we could have united more and found a solution, and if it happens again, we can find a solution and adjust our pressure.” The 24-year-old young player said.
“There must be some leaders who must come together and find a solution to why the matter did not succeed, but the player does not only ask the rest, nor is he ashamed of self-criticism, as he knows very well that in Germany he did not provide what he is capable of.” Foden said.
“I was not the best player in the English Premier League until I came here and did not show it. But in every match I am progressing little by little, and I hope that I can give good performances with the national team. This has always been my goal, to show that with the national team. I have improved after the first match, my performance improved a lot.” He continued.
