Russia Calls for an urgent Ceasefire in Sudan

Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed on Thursday with the Sudanese Acting Foreign Minister Hussein Awad Ali, who is visiting Moscow, resolving the Sudanese conflict and establishing a sustainable national dialogue.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said – in a statement according to “Sputnik” – that “during the meeting, the main focus was on the development of the situation in Sudan, with an emphasis on the need to reach an early solution to the military and political crisis in the country.”
The statement continued: “At the same time, the Russian side affirmed its principled position in support of an urgent ceasefire and establishing a sustainable national dialogue in a way that serves to ensure the unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Sudan.”
The statement indicated that the two parties discussed “some practical issues to continue strengthening the multifaceted relations between Russia and Sudan.”
