Didier Deschamps, France coach, defended the level of Kylian Mbappe, captain of the Roosters, during Euro 2024.
Mbappe is facing criticism due to his declining level, in addition to the failure of French players to score any goals from open play.
“Don’t you think that Mbappe has already left his mark on history because of what he has done so far? He wants to leave a bigger mark on history. We have done it. We do everything we can with him, with the medical staff, to ensure that Mbappé is here. During preparation, he suffered a small back problem. Kylian is also there, even if he is not 100% ready. I know very well that his mere presence will put pressure on the competitors, which will put pressure on the competitors. He will force them to adapt to it.” Deschamps said.
“These are not criticisms, these are facts… We have less attacking effectiveness than it was, but that does not prevent us from reaching the semi-finals again. There are always criticisms that concern me, the situation inside the team, between what I see and everything we have to do with the entire work team… As for everything external, I deal with it well, and I live with it well.” Deschamps replied regarding criticism regarding the French team’s performance.
