OIC Condemns Israel’s Attack on a School Housing Displaced People in Gaza
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Monday, in the strongest terms Israel’s continued crimes of genocide it is committing in the Gaza Strip. OIC denounced Israel’s most recent bombing of a UNRWA school housing thousands of displaced people in the Nuseirat camp, resulting in the death and injury of dozens. In a press release, OIC said these crimes constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and resolutions issued by the International Court of Justice. The Jeddah-based organization also called for the necessity of investigating this crime and all war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, including targeting UNRWA employees and facilities, displaced persons in its headquarters, and health and humanitarian workers. It stressed the need to prosecute and hold the perpetrators accountable. The OIC also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards putting an end to Israel’s brutal aggression targeting civilians, the displaced, hospitals, schools, buildings and places of worship.
It also renewed calls for the necessity of delivering humanitarian and medical aid adequately and sustainably to all parts of the Gaza Strip. The OIC also called on the relevant international justice institutions to take the necessary measures and hold those responsible for the violations and crimes committed by Israel accountable.
