De La Fuente: We are lucky that Yamal represents Spain

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised the rising winger Lamine Yamal after his contribution to the 2-1 victory over France, qualifying for the final of the European Football Championship (Euro 2024), and said that his country is lucky that this “genius” player chose to represent its national team and Yamal (16 years old), the son of a Moroccan father and a mother from Equatorial Guinea, tied for Spain with a stunning shot, becoming the youngest player to score a goal in the history of the European Championship. Yamal broke many records after rising to Barcelona’s first team. The Moroccan national team tried to persuade him to represent the “Atlas Lions” but he chose to play for Spain.
“We saw the magnificence of this genius in the goal he scored. We are very lucky that he is Spanish and we will enjoy him for many years. He must be taken care of and he must continue to work and be humble. I am lucky to coach these players, from Yamal to Carvajal. We have a team with a great present and future. I am proud of them and the players should receive all the appreciation. We have planned to reach the final since my appointment. We want to continue writing history.
