Drones attacked on Thursday the headquarters of the Gedarif state government during a celebration by the popular resistance to support the armed forces.
The security authorities arrested a suspect shortly after the incident, and two people were injured.
According to “Sudan Tribune”, military sources said that “two suicide drones attempted to target the popular resistance mobilization program to support the war effort and secure the state, in the presence of the state governor, his security committee, and a number of merchants and farmers.”
They explained that according to initial investigations, the drones came from the “Umm Sharabah” area, affiliated with the Rural Central Gedarif locality, and crossed “Ad Al-Tin” area, northeast of the city, and then attempted to target the General Secretariat of the government.
However, the inaccuracy of the coordinates led to the first drone falling near the Rehabilitation Hospital for Women and Maternity, while the second fell in the Al-Sadaqa neighborhood, which resulted in the injury of two civilians.
The sources revealed that the authorities arrested one of the suspects inside the government secretariat.
The Gadarif State Government expressed its deep regret for targeting citizens and hospitals via drones, accusing the Rapid Support RSF Militia of seeking to destabilize the security and safety of citizens.
The government indicated that the state’s people’s mobilization came to support the war effort by all community activities to support the armed forces, enhance combat capabilities, and qualify those mobilized to secure the state.
