Sudan Events – Agencies

The acting Director of Sudanese Customs, Maj. Gen. Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, revealed that the war raging between the SAF and the Rapid Support RSF Militia since mid-April has led to the customs stations going out of service in the states of Khartoum, Gezira , Kordofan and Darfur, addition to the loss of machinery, cars and goods in them.
Ibrahim explained in an interview to the TV service of the Arab World News Agency (AWP) that the war has inflicted great losses on the customs sector, investors and suppliers alike, but he said that it is too early to accurately determine the extent of the losses in light of the ongoing war except through committees formed specifically for this purpose.
He added, “Of course, we have committees after the end of the war that will work to completely verify what was lost, and reports were opened with the Attorney General in the places that were damaged by the war, but as real statistics, only after forming committees to list what is present and what was lost exactly, but the loss is really great.”
Director of the Customs revealed the severe damage to Qari Customs Station north of Khartoum, and the Soba Station in the east of it , which contains large warehouses that were destroyed with all their cars and machinery, indicating that compensating the losses of suppliers and investors who lost their goods will be a decision subject to the state’s vision after the end of the war.”
