“East Nile Emergency”: (85) kitchens closed due to lack of support

East Nile Emergency chamber announced on Tuesday that the rates of malnutrition cases among children reached 1469 cases in six months.
A member of the East Nile Emergency chamber revealed, according to “Sudan Tribune”, that 85 kitchens in the region closed during the period between April and June due to lack of support to finance these kitchens, high prices, in addition to the dangerous security situation and water outages.
He said that the number of malnutrition cases in Ban Jadeed Hospital among children between the ages of 6 months and 12 years reached 1107 cases.
He added that Umm Dawa Ban Hospital recorded similar cases of malnutrition among children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years, which reached 153 cases. While the number of malnutrition cases in the Soba East Health Center reached 35 children.
In the context of the deterioration of the nutritional situation among the residents of the area, Al-Jereif East Medical Clinic recorded 74 cases of malnutrition among children aged 6 months to 10 years, while the Sheikh Al-Amin Health Center recorded 100 cases that caused night blindness among these children.
The source expected an increase in malnutrition among the population and children, especially in the coming months as a result of the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the cessation of charity kitchens.
A member of the East Nile Emergency chamber pointed to the rise in cooking gas prices, noting that the price of a gas cylinder reached SDGs 55,000while the price of a sack of coal reached SDGs 40,000
