Sudan Events – Follow-ups

A high-level delegation from the United Nations UN inspected the situations of Sudanese refugees in the city of Kufra on the Sudanese-Libyan border.
The delegation includes the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, Georgette Gagnon, and a number of specialized United Nations UN agencies, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR, Libya Office, and the World Food Program WFP.
Georgette held a meeting in the presence of the security services, the Kufra Health Emergency Room, and the Southern Security Room, addition to visiting several sites where Sudanese refugees reside.
The mayor of Kufra said in press statements that he reviewed the most prominent needs of the municipality to confront the challenges resulting from the increasing number of refugees and the needs of the health sector to provide appropriate health services to citizens and refugees alike.
He added that “it is expected that this visit will result in providing the necessary support by the international organization to provide the needs of the city of Kufra, which helps service institutions fulfill their obligations.”
