Bread Crisis in Wadi Halfa
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Wadi Halfa witnessed a bread crisis, while most bakeries went on strike and closed their doors, due to the failure to agree on a price that would satisfy their owners.
The bakeries that were operating witnessed long lines, and six pieces of bread were sold for SDGs1,000, while other bakeries offered five pieces for SDGs 1,000 , and they justified this by the difference in weights.
The bakery owners attributed the price increase to the increase in the cost of production of flour, fuel, labor, oil and yeast.
