“Democrats” throw their weight behind the Swiss Negotiations .. What is the impact of the Sudan war on the US Elections and its Heated Debates

Report – Amir Abdel Majid

With the intensification of battles on the ground in Sudan and the expansion of the arena of confrontations on the ground and its expansion, and with the entry of many regional and international parties into the war arena, their entry has caused many transformations, it seems that the American player is disturbed by the scene that is getting out of his hands day after day, as the American is now monitoring the development of relations between Sudan and Moscow and monitoring the arrival of the Iranian ambassador and the presentation of his credentials to Burhan and is wary of dangerous developments in the scene that will completely remove him, particularly since Jeddah Forum, which US manages with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has been frozen for a long time.
Sudden developments
In light of the current developments, it does not seem that the parties will head towards new negotiations in Jeddah that would lead to stopping the war and thus stopping the increasing activity of Moscow and Iran in Sudan and stopping any sudden developments that might occur from the new players, which prompted the US envoy to Sudan, Perriello, to call for holding a round of direct negotiations this time between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support RSF Militia, which perhaps reflects the pressure of the changes that occurred in the US elections with the withdrawal of President Joe Biden from the presidential race and the advancement of Kamala Harris as an alternative to him from the Democratic Party in the face of Republican Donald Trump. These are developments that will have an impact on all the hot fronts in the world now, from the Gaza war to Ukraine, all the way to the Sudan war due to the depth of the American presence in all these conflicts.
To what extent can the preoccupations of American politicians with the elections affect the Sudan war and what do Perriello’s recent statements indicate about the necessity of holding direct negotiations between the army and the Rapid Support RSFMilitia this time, which is a step beyond what was happening in all negotiating platforms between the army and the militia, as the negotiations were conducted indirectly by negotiating with the parties separately.
Last card :

It seems that the negotiations proposed by the United States US in Switzerland under the auspices of the United States US ,Saudi Arabia, and regional and international parties and organizations are the last card for the Democrats before entering the elections in which they will face an opponent who will rely on their failure in Ukraine, the Gaza war, and Sudan.
Naturally, according to Foreign Policy, today it has become part of American domestic policy due to its influence, at least with regard to Sudan, on African-American voters. Therefore, the current American initiative that will be held in Switzerland to end the Sudan war may be the last chance for the Democrats to obtain a winning card before the elections by stopping the war and preventing Russia and Iran from expanding in Africa.
According to Foreign Policy, senior officials in the current US administration confirmed that Switzerland and Saudi Arabia will host direct negotiations between the parties and that countries such as the UAE and Egypt will be represented alongside the United Nations and the African Union. It said that the United States has received assurances that senior officials on both sides will represent the parties in the negotiations, which are likely to be directly managed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Threatening interests :

Journalist and political analyst Ramzi Al-Madah, who is interested in American affairs, says that the Biden administration will throw its weight behind these negotiations because if Kamala Harris gets the votes to enter the elections on behalf of the Democratic Party, she will need cards to confront Trump and the Republicans who are dissatisfied with the performance of the Biden government in foreign files, especially its failure in the Red Sea and Russia’s strong entry into the line and even obtaining the green light to establish a military naval base there in addition to its control over important countries in the African coast and its threat to American interests in the Gulf, so I believe that they are now exerting great pressure on the parties in Sudan because the matter has become related to the elections and obtaining gains through which the sharp accusations of the Republicans can be defended and through which the votes of African Americans can be obtained addition to America’s strategic dimension in protecting its interests in the Gulf and Africa.
He added, “The geopolitical location of Sudan makes Russia’s presence there an imminent and certain threat to America’s interests, which is something that Republican candidate Trump will focus on to prove his theory of the failure of the Biden government.”
Destruction and Death :

In the context, Dr. Mamoun Al-Khabir, expert of International Relations, said that the entry of Sudan, the Gaza war and Ukraine into the US election debates is certain, but not because the American voter is interested in what is happening in Sudan or the fate of the Sudanese. This is not the case for the voter or the official. What matters here are American interests.
Therefore, I agree with those who believe that the ruling Democratic Party in America is now facing a real dilemma in ending the war in Sudan because the experience that the current US administration has undergone so far has been a failure and modest in light of the destruction and death that the war has resulted in.
He added, “The United States US did not move seriously until Russia appeared on the scene and Iran entered.
These are the reasons for America’s anxiety and extreme tension, which may make it put forward another failed initiative because it is hasty and wants results by any means. The recent statement by the US envoy, in which he called for direct negotiations between the parties, did not tell us what is new that necessitated the parties to sit down urgently and why now? Is the time remaining before the elections sufficient to reach a peace agreement that stops the war and what will the United States propose to the parties to make them sign immediately?”
