Rains flood Tents in Kassala Shelters Centres

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

Heavy rains flooded the tents of the IDPs in three shelters in Kassala city on Friday.
Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that heavy rains that fell at dawn on Friday flooded the tents of displaced people inside a school in Kassala city.
Displaced people ( IDPs) in Kassala said that most of the tents were built in low-lying areas without equipment to protect them from the fluctuations of the fall season.
Kassala Youth Emergency Chamber launched an urgent appeal to provide pumps to pump water from the IDPs’ shelters, which are currently suffering from difficulties in draining rainwater.
A circular from the chamber stated that three shelters were damaged by heavy rains, including the industrial school, the reference hospital, and a concrete structure for a citizen.
The Kassala Emergency
Chamber urged all citizens of the city to provide clothes and blankets, particularly children’s clothes.
