Geneva to stop the War or Election Propaganda?

Zain Al-Abidin Saleh Abdel Rahman

When the US administration announced that it had appointed a special US envoy to Sudan, “Tom Perriello”, the appointment indicated the transfer of the Sudanese crisis file from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the presidency.
Perriello toured most of the countries surrounding Sudan in addition to Saudi Arabia, and met with the leaders interested in the file there, then met with the Sudanese present in those countries.
After all this touring, he had set several times to start the negotiations, and the specified time would come and then another time would be proposed, as if he wanted to say I am here..
This time; The speech came again from the US State Department setting the time for the negotiations on August 14 in Geneva, Switzerland, and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken would attend.. which “stirred up” many political leaders who had put forward their appeals for the invitees to commit to attending.. except for the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which said that the invitation would be studied and then responded to..
The questions that should be asked: Why did the US Secretary of State decide to attend the negotiations himself? Is it to pressure the negotiators to reach a ceasefire? Or does he just want a ceasefire to be the only success the Biden administration has achieved in foreign relations during his presidency, and to be a support for his vice president candidate next November? Also, why does America insist on imposing the Emirates on the negotiators by attending the negotiations? The negotiations are related to the military issue “ceasefire” and also related to the process of passing relief to those in need in different areas in Sudan.. Sending the invitation letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs implicitly means recognizing the Sudanese government, and this is a good initiative..
Now the ball is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ court to raise all the questions that need explanation and submit them to the US State Department, some of which are why US insists on the presence of the UAE, the main supporter of the militia.. even though Sudan had rejected its presence when the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Abdul Karim Al-Khuraiji came to Portswan carrying the same agenda as the UAE’s future presence..
All the reports that were issued and that talked about the violations committed by the militia against citizens, and the genocide and displacement that it also committed in Darfur states and others must be accepted..
Many people believe that negotiation means concession, and the return of the militia once again to the military and political arenas alongside its political wing, and this is a misunderstanding that negotiation does not stop military operations except after an agreement and signing by the parties.. The SAF Commandment will be keen not to lose the people’s support for it, and will not agree to anything that it does not want.
There are people.. and as long as the people trust the SAF and its leadership, there must be trust in the two military operations currently underway, and also in any negotiation process conducted with the militia through state mediation.. and I do not think that the SAF Commandment will miss the fact that those who convinced the militia to carry out the coup are the ones who are now seeking a ceasefire, the “Quartet and Tripartite” countries, the IGAD organizations and the African Union. Knowing the agenda before entering the negotiation process is a necessary matter, it shows the general direction of the negotiation, and at the same time shows whether the goal is to stop the war to relieve the people, or a new attempt for the militia to reorganize its ranks, or the goal is to reach a political settlement that returns the militia to what it was before April 15 and its political wing..
Those who were able to buy heads of state to support their agenda will not give up the deceit they have become accustomed to, and it requires vigilance..
The majority of the people standing with the SAF will break all the plots hatched against Sudan, and the presence of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is not for the purpose of pressuring the government delegation In order to sign a pre-arranged agreement, or to pressure to accept a settlement, but he came to serve his Democratic Party to record one success abroad, perhaps to support the Democratic Party candidate for the presidency in the upcoming elections in November, whose propaganda campaign began a month ago..
Also, the stick that US is trying to wave a lot no longer frightens a country, or an authority that the people rally around..
The Sudanese political powers that have only begun to applaud foreign initiatives are better off sitting and working on formulating a political project in which they clarify their point of view and present it to the Sudanese street instead of running after international envoys and organizations that do not have Sudan’s interest on their agenda. The December revolution not only toppled the Salvation regime, but it exposed the modest capabilities of politicians, and revealed the weakness of the parties that live in it, failed to maintain the street and took from abroad a means to push them to power, until the war came, and this is a new stage in which new leaderships will emerge that may bring about a better change in the political process..
We pray to Allah for good insight..
