Militia Imposes Billion-Fees on Tuti Residents in exchange for Leaving

Rapid Support RSF Militia imposed billions fees on the residents of Tuti Island in the capital Khartoum, in order to allow them to leave.
According to “Al Jazeera Net”, citizens from Tuti Island revealed that they left the island after paying fees amounting to SDGs 1 billion imposed by the militia present on the island.
The citizens affirmed that it is not possible to leave Tuti Island without paying financial fees to the Rapid Support RSF Militia, which appointed from its members someone known as the “mayor”, who issues transit permits to leave the island, after paying an amount of 1 SDGs billion for a family, addition to gate fees, crossing fees and fees paid at each Rapid Support RSF base.
Citizens told “Al Jazeera Net” that the financial amounts imposed by the Rapid Support Forces RSF on families to allow them to leave Tuti range between SDGs (800,000-1,000,000), and the total cost reaches SDGs 2 billion , adding the crossing fees and the Rapid Support RSF bases until the last base point.
“We left under indescribable conditions, with the Rapid Support Forces RSF committing many violations, including looting, arrests and killing,” said one Tuti resident who left the island.
“There are currently no accurate statistics on the number of deaths due to the siege imposed on the island, while the number of deaths due to diseases and lack of medicine is estimated at more than 100 deaths,he added.
For his part, the representative of Tuti residents, Mudawi Mukhtar, said that families left because they were struggling to obtain food, drink and medicine after the shutdown of Al-Muqrin water station and the scarcity of food supplies in the takaya.
