A committee concerned with investigating war crimes revealed, on Sunday, that 12,400 lawsuits had been filed against members of the Rapid Support RSF Militia, including the assassination of the governor of West Darfur and the attack on Gezira state.
Head of the National Committee for War Crimes and Violations of the Rapid Support RSF Militia, Yassir Bukhari, said in a press statement that the committee “filed 12,400 reports, most notably the assassination of the governor of West Darfur State, Khamis Abkar, against 12 defendants.”
He pointed out that the lawsuits include the events in Zalingei in Central Darfur state, with accusations of sabotaging infrastructure, killing citizens and looting their property, addition to the events in Al-Geneina, which left 5,000 dead and 8,000 wounded.
He stated that the committee filed lawsuits related to the attack on Gezira state, which are related to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and looting of funds, in addition to the attack on Wad Al-Noura village, which killed 227 people and injured 150, and Sheikh Al-Samani village in Sennar state, which killed 21 people and injured 15 others.
He explained that the committee filed a lawsuit against an administrative officer who handed over cars and machinery belonging to the Khartoum locality to the Rapid Support Forces RSF addition to an amount of SDGs11 billion.
The lawsuits relate to crimes of murder, forced displacement, looting of property, rape, sexual violence, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, as arrest warrants were issued against members of the Rapid Support Forces RSF and others were declared fugitives.
Yassir Bukhari revealed that the committee had filed the papers of 80 cases before the courts regarding violations by the Rapid Support Forces RSF where the courts issued convictions against some of the accused and acquitted others.
He pointed out that the lawsuit regarding the attack on Marawi Airport in northern Sudan is close to being issued, announcing that the committee has registered lawsuits related to targeting the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Authority, control towers at Khartoum International Airport, and state airports.
He said that the Rapid Support Forces RSF recruited 6,000 children and released more than 19,000 prisoners.
He pointed out that the losses of the Ministry of Health due to the conflict amounted to $11 billion, while the losses of the industrial sector amounted to $50 billion.
The Ministry of Information estimated the loss of television and radio equipment at $30 million, and the losses of museums and antiquities at $109 million.
