Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, held a meeting with the Qatari Ambassador to Sudan, Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al-Sada, and the Minister stated that the meeting comes in the context of continuing joint cooperation between the two countries, and described the partnership between Sudan and Qatar as “strong”, particularly in the health fields.
According to the platform of “Official Spokesperson” , the Minister of Health said that Qatar is one of the largest countries supporting Sudan, particularly in the health field, whether from the government officially or through organizations, most notably Qatar Charity, the Red Crescent, and the Qatar Development Fund, pointing to its contribution to the implementation of many projects, and standing with Sudan during the war that has been ongoing for (15) months.
He added, “We hope for Qatar’s expected role in rehabilitating and building the health system in Sudan,” and stated the Ministry’s need for more interventions, especially for those with chronic diseases.
The Minister called on Qatar to contribute to the services that were suspended due to the violations of the Rapid Support Militia, including the restoration of the pediatric heart surgery service, and pointed to arrangements to launch operations at the state’s expense in the Merowe Medical City, in addition to the restoration of kidney transplant services at Port Sudan Dialysis Center.
For his part, the Qatari Ambassador promised to continue cooperation with Sudan, represented by the Federal Ministry of Health, and to work to provide urgent needs according to priorities, foremost of which are supporting health and food, and reported the provision of humanitarian aid to Sudanese IDPs
in neighboring countries.
