Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has returned to full training and is ready to participate in time, after new signing Lenny Euro was injured during a tour of the United States in preparation for the new season. Lindelof, who has a year left on his contract, did not participate in Manchester United’s first three friendly matches this summer in order to regain his fitness.
Manchester United said that its Swedish defender has joined group training at the team’s training headquarters at the University of California, and may participate in the friendly match against Real Betis on Wednesday.
Lindelof’s return is a boost for coach Erik ten Hag, who is waiting to know the severity of Lenny Euro’s injury. Euro, who joined from Lille, was forced off in the first half of the defeat to Arsenal in Los Angeles and Ten Hag said he was being “careful” with Euro as he had only completed 50 per cent of training sessions and is unlikely to feature in Saturday’s friendly with Betis before facing Liverpool. Manchester United are also monitoring the fitness of Rasmus Hojlund after he left the Arsenal game with a hamstring problem.
