Seizure of Spoiled Food Items and Commodities in Omdurman

A joint team from the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization ( SSMO) Omdurman Unit and Karari Locality, the Ministry of Health, Economic Security, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources in Khartoum state, based on qualitative information from the Supply and Consumer Protection Investigations, was able to seize a warehouse of expired food items in Karari.
The head of the unit, Salafa Abdel Aziz, revealed the seizure of 3,500 bags of expired and spoiled beans weighing 25 kg that were being repackaged, and 1,500 kg of rice containing insects, in addition to various quantities of food products and commodities inside a grocery store in Omdurman.
The Authority called on consumers to review the expiration dates before purchasing and to immediately report any illegal commercial practices to the Authority’s offices spread across the stable states.
