Five people were killed and 13 others were injured on Thursday, after the Sudanese army SAF and the Rapid Support Forces RSF returned to exchanging artillery shelling in the capital, Khartoum.
According to civilian activists and eyewitnesses, violent artillery shelling has returned to the south and east of the Sudanese capital after an interruption of more than two months.
A press release issued by the South Belt Emergency Chamber south of Khartoum, said that an artillery shell fell on Thursday in the central market in Khartoum, killing two people and injuring 13 others who were transferred to Bashayer Hospital.
Later, the chamber reported that the death toll had risen to five and a number of injuries ranged from minor to critical.
Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that violent explosions occurred on Thursday morning east and south of Khartoum as a result of the exchange of artillery shelling between the SAF and the Rapid Support Forces RSF.
