Cultivation of more than 500,000 acres with Agricultural Crops in Tendalti

Tendalti locality in White Nile State was able to cultivate more than 500.000 acres of the targeted area for the summer agricultural season despite the challenges facing the season in providing production inputs and financing. Professor Awad Al-Karim Balila, Director of the Agriculture Department in Tendalti locality, said in a statement that this area was cultivated with food and cash crops such as corn, sesame, peanuts, hibiscus, millet, cowpeas and watermelon seeds. He pointed out that the locality witnessed moderate rainfall that contributed to establishing crop germination.
The area cultivated in the mechanized sector so far amounted to 150 thousand acres, and the area cultivated in the traditional sector amounted to 317 thousand acres.
His Excellency indicated the continuation of agricultural operations with the aim of completing the remaining targeted areas this summer agricultural season.
In the field of combating agricultural pests, His Excellency stated that there is a well-thought-out plan in cooperation with the Department of Prevention and Control of Agricultural Pests at the Ministry of Agriculture that will be implemented before and during the agricultural season. The Director of Agriculture in Tindalti Locality stressed the good cooperation with the locality, farmers, the Agricultural Fuel Distribution Committee (gasoline) and the Agricultural Season Success Committee in order to make the season a success.
