Sudan Events – Reports
Member of the Sovereign Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army, General Shams al-Din Kabashi, confirmed that they would not participate in the Geneva talks in their current form except to discuss the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration according to specific timelines. He emphasized that they have a clear vision for implementing the Jeddah Declaration, stating, “If the people’s demands are not met, we will continue the war.”
Kabashi, during his meeting with a Sudanese-Egyptian media delegation in Port Sudan, reiterated their rejection of expanding the Jeddah Platform and their refusal to include new mediators other than Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the African Union. He added, “America is evasive, and we want a just peace agreement that meets the people’s requirements and ensures compensation for the great harm they have suffered.” He emphasized that America is not keen on implementing the Jeddah Agreement and that no one can impose a decision on them.
Kabashi asserted that the army still holds control and added, “You will see changes on the ground in favor of the state and the citizens soon.” He continued, “The citizen wants action on the ground, not words, and this is his right, and we reassure him of what is coming.”
