Autumn Emergencies in Qadarif Send Caravans to Support State Schools
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Autumn Emergency Committee in Qadarif state has sent support caravans for the educational process in the state to maintain school stability, prepare the environment, and counter the effects of autumn.
The Director of Civil Defense Police in Qadarif state and the committee’s chairman, Police Brigadier Babker Mahmoud, stated that the support included distributing tarpaulins, suction pumps, and safety equipment, along with “filling” works and engineering activities conducted by the Ministry of Infrastructure in coordination with the localities at schools.
Mahmoud explained that the caravans targeted (five) localities, distributing over a thousand tarpaulins and (12) suction pumps, among other safety equipment. He added that the caravans aimed to prepare the school environment, stabilize the educational process, and support schools that have played a significant role in sheltering displaced persons within their classrooms and offices.
He also highlighted the role his department is currently playing in monitoring boats and ferries along riverbanks in light of last week’s increased rainfall and rising river levels (Rahad, Atbara, Setit), through specialized teams to monitor the rivers, alongside other teams monitoring sewage waters and ponds, to protect citizens from floods and rain.
The chairman of the Autumn Emergencies Committee in Qadarif referred to the technical and engineering interventions made by the committee through the National Roads Authority to maintain the national road (Qadarif – Doka – Qalabat) after it was cut off last week in the “Al Hamra” area due to sweeping floods.
