Washington Warns the Militia Against Obstructing Relief Convoys
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas, called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to facilitate the flow of aid and avoid any actions that divert or slow the movement of trucks or threaten the lives of humanitarian workers.
In a statement, the U.S. ambassador said that reopening the Adre border crossing is important but not sufficient, as it must remain open permanently. She added, “This step should have been taken a long time ago, and I look forward to seeing the humanitarian convoys enter Darfur.”
She confirmed that around 26 million people are facing severe hunger, representing half of Sudan’s population.
