Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The High Emergency Committee in Gadarif State has revealed floods and torrents that have swept through several villages in the Qurayshah and Mafaza localities.
Jaber Babiker Suleiman, the Chairman of the state’s High Emergency Committee and the Director-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure, said in a press statement that the state emergency committee dispatched support convoys to areas affected by floods and to schools in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. The convoy included “tarpaulins, mosquito nets, blankets, hygiene materials, cooking utensils, energy equipment, water containers, and kits.”
The committee’s secretary for the Gadarif State’s autumn emergencies highlighted the technical and engineering interventions made by the committee through the National Roads Authority to repair the “Gadarif-Doka-Gallabat” highway after it was cut off last week in the “Hamra” area due to torrential floods that swept through the road.
The Chairman of the Gadarif High Emergency Committee praised the efforts of the state’s Ministry of Finance and organizations in responding to the autumn emergencies, noting that the Ministry of Finance funded the cleaning of dams around Gadarif city and finances emergency operations to cope with the effects of the rainy season.
