King Salman Center sponsors 1,150 free eye surgeries

A delegation from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Ramadi Center visited the Makkah Eye Hospital in Port Sudan to follow up on the implementation of specialized eye surgeries as part of the “Noor Saudi Arabia” free volunteer program, carried out by the Al-Basar International Foundation and Makkah Eye Hospitals at their branches in Atbara, Kassala, Damazin, Port Sudan, El Obeid, and Gadarif.

The program includes free specialized eye surgeries in the fields of retina, glaucoma, vitreous body, squint, and laser operations.

Saeed Saleh Al-Ghamdi, the executive director of the Ramadi Association, said in a press statement on Saturday at Makkah Eye Hospital in Port Sudan that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, through its Noor projects, has provided support to Sudanese people by helping them undergo eye surgeries for advanced specialties for a total of 950 specialized surgeries, alongside 60 surgeries for retinal conditions. These surgeries were funded by the center, and support will continue in the upcoming period.

Meanwhile, Al-Aasem Ahmed Kamel, the regional director of the Al-Basar International Foundation, pointed out that the foundation is conducting these specialized surgeries for a total of 1,150 operations, including for retinal conditions, glaucoma, and squint surgeries, in partnership with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. He noted that these operations contribute to localizing treatment within Sudan.

He added that this project will continue for two months with full funding from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, as part of their social responsibility and in light of the current circumstances in the country, including displacement and other issues that have led to an increase in eye diseases, and considering the current situation and the limited resources available, as well as efforts to reunite families.
