Sudan Events – Agencies
English clubs have worked hard to strengthen their squads during the current summer transfer window, signing many players ahead of the new Premier League season to achieve their ambitions. Here, we spotlight 10 players expected to attract attention:
Savinho (Manchester City) Manchester City paid £30 million to sign the Brazilian winger Savinho from Troyes in July. The 20-year-old excelled during his loan spell with Girona in Spain last season, helping the team finish third in La Liga. He made his international debut for Brazil against England in March and has since played in six more international matches. Manchester City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, said of him, “He will play a big role with Manchester City this season and beyond. We have complete confidence in his abilities.”
Daichi Kamada (Crystal Palace): Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner moved to sign Japanese midfielder Daichi Kamada, who previously played under his management. The 27-year-old joined Crystal Palace from Lazio on a free transfer after playing a year in Serie A. He had previously played under Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt, where they won the Europa League together in 2022. Kamada has played 33 international matches for Japan and scored 40 goals, and provided 33 assists in 179 appearances for Frankfurt before moving to Lazio.
Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal): Arsenal will again try to beat Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season. They have strengthened their defensive options by signing the talented Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori, who played 33 matches in all competitions for Bologna last season. The 22-year-old completed his move to the Gunners for £42 million from Bologna. The player, who excels in several positions and roles on the field and has an excellent left foot, joined Bologna for just £3.3 million last summer but quickly became a standout player, attracting interest from many top clubs across Europe. He was also one of the few bright spots for the Italian national team in the last European Championship.
Niclas Füllkrug (West Ham): West Ham’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui, has made several signings in a bid to rebuild the team for next season, but the best of the new players could be Niclas Füllkrug. The 31-year-old German international striker joined West Ham from Borussia Dortmund for £27 million. Füllkrug scored 15 goals in 46 appearances in the 2023-24 season, helping Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final. He also scored two goals in Euro 2024, helping Germany reach the quarter-finals, although he did not start any of the matches.
Joshua Zirkzee (Manchester United):
Joshua Zirkzee found it difficult to secure a starting spot at Bayern Munich before moving to Italy. The Dutch striker joined Manchester United this summer from Bologna for £36.54 million. Zirkzee scored 12 goals in 37 Serie A matches last season. He scored a late goal on his debut for Manchester United, giving his team a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League opener.
