Kassala Meeting Discusses the Relocation of Migrants and Arrangements for Alternative Shelters

The Higher Committee for the Shelter of Migrants in Kassala State, in its meeting on Tuesday, chaired by the Acting Minister of Social Development, Omar Osman Adam, discussed with representatives of organizations and partners, including the International Organization for Migration, the construction of a shelter site in the selected areas and accelerating the steps for the relocation of migrants and arranging alternative shelters at the Karama Center, at the Onion Drying Factory, and the selected schools for the resumption of the school year next Sunday.
The head of the committee emphasized the importance of setting a timeline for implementing the construction of houses within the specified schools by 40%, alongside the Karama camp at the Onion Drying Factory. He pointed out the importance of identifying organizations based on their capabilities and capacities in implementing construction works so that the committee can find alternatives if an organization cannot fulfill the agreed-upon commitments.
Omar praised the national roles of organizations in contributing to sheltering migrants, in addition to the efforts being made to support the government of the state.
