Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to achieving a ceasefire, protecting Sudan’s resources, its people, and state institutions. He stressed the need for all international and regional efforts to provide full support to end the political crisis and the humanitarian tragedy facing the Sudanese people.
On Tuesday, Sisi received UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and her accompanying delegation, which included Elena Panova, the UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt, and Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, the UN Special Envoy for Sustainable Development Financing.
Amina Mohammed praised Egypt’s active role in international forums, especially at the United Nations, and Egypt’s persistent push for peace and stability in the region, aiming to avoid a regional confrontation that could have severely negative implications both regionally and internationally. She emphasized the United Nations’ appreciation for Egypt’s crucial humanitarian role in the refugee issue in the region and the burdens it shoulders in this regard, underscoring the UN’s keenness to continue and intensify effective coordination and cooperation with Egypt on all levels.
