The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, described today (Wednesday) the Ukrainian forces’ attack on Kursk as a “severe blow” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Borrell also expressed support for lifting the regional restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western arms supplies, as some donor countries insist on limiting the use of their weapons to Ukrainian territory only.
In a post on the platform “X,” Borrell said: “The Ukrainian forces’ attack on Kursk is a severe blow to President Putin’s narrative.”
He added that “lifting the restrictions on using capabilities against the Russian army involved in aggression against Ukraine, in accordance with international law, would have several significant outcomes,” including enhancing Ukraine’s self-defense capacity, saving lives, and strengthening peace efforts.
Borrell continued, stating that “the European Union fully supports Ukraine’s battle against Russian aggression.”
