Kassala Governor Calls for Activation of the State’s Mineral Resources

The Acting Governor of Kassala, retired Brigadier General Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, emphasized the need to utilize the state’s vast and excellent mineral resources to directly impact the state’s and the country’s overall economic resources.
During his meeting with the Director of the General Authority for Geological Research in the state, part of the Ministry of Minerals, Ismail Mudawi, the Governor was briefed on the plans and programs of the Authority aimed at activating the state’s vast mineral resources, which include various raw materials that are essential for both small and large industries.
Mudawi provided a comprehensive briefing on the tasks and competencies of the branch office of the Authority in Kassala and the state’s potential in mineral wealth, including resources used in cement production, calcium for animal feed, poultry, paints, sugar production, as well as marble resources like Caroline and iron, which are needed for many industries.
He mentioned that the Authority plans to present the state’s capabilities to partners from institutions such as the Investment and Industry Commission, Economic Security, Customs, Standards and Metrology, the local community, and national and foreign capitalists to reach understandings and resolve many intersections to contribute to local production, benefiting citizens. He also pointed to the possibility of developing simple industries that do not require significant capital, like “granite,” instead of importing ceramics by providing some work aids.
The Governor affirmed his support for the Authority and its efforts to achieve shared goals that boost the state’s economy and utilize its diverse mineral resources to attract investment.
