Aid Trucks Reach Darfur Through Adre Crossing
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that more than 12 trucks loaded with aid, including trucks from the World Food Programme and the International Organization for Migration, crossed into Darfur in Sudan from Chad through the Adre border crossing. The World Food Programme explained that its trucks arriving in Darfur were loaded with sorghum, pulses, oil, and rice, and that about 13,000 people facing the risk of famine in the Krink area of West Darfur would benefit from this aid.
The International Organization for Migration mentioned that the basic relief supplies sent to Sudan would assist more than 12,000 individuals in need. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reiterated that the Adre crossing is the most effective and fastest way to deliver humanitarian aid to Sudan, meeting the required needs to address the country’s significant hunger crisis. The World Food Programme noted that aid trucks could head to Darfur through Adre and reach the main distribution centers on the same day.
